Expressions of joy are mostly universal. James, however, had his own ways - especially when it came to strong emotions. Often, they appeared to embody the exact opposite of the feeling he was experiencing. To him, slamming his fists into a wrought iron table, squeezing his eyebrows together like a man seeking the last drop of toothpaste in his forehead and shrieking like a terrified mongoose translated into joy. To others, not so much.

Luckily, the only being to witness the event had never witness any emotion before, let alone joy. It was, not just a clean slate, but a freshly assembled one. It's mechanical eyes beheld the actions of it's creator in complete innocence.

When James screamed "I am ecstatic!" it was because he had acquired the habit of verbally translating his emotions into words for others benefit. They didn't get it, so he said it.

The newborn robot merely continued to twitch, exploring it's motors and sensors in the way that any newborn with an overly big brain does - mostly randomly.

James pounded the table again but didn't scream.

The robot responded with a kick of it's own, putting a sizable dent in the metal table it was laying on. That noise, in turn, triggered a rapid moving of the head, which led to an emission of high pitched blips and beeps.

"YES!" James pounded the table. "You are amazing!"

The spasms continued.
