Where is Their Smoke?
The mind burns. A fire, like any other, that consumes and is shaped by whatever fuel is at the ready.
- What is doubt?
- What is belief?
- What is dogma?
- What is skepticism?
- Why do they matter? How do these ideas affect actions in the world?
- How aware are people of their own matrix of beliefs and doubts?
- What does belief produce in an individual? What does belief produce in a society?
- What does doubt produce in an individual? What does doubt produce in a society?
Or maybe it should be different colored flames. Skepticism = blue. Dogma = white. Doubt = green. Belief = yellow.
Easier I suppose is definitions.
Dogma is unassailable.
Skepticism is assailable. Uh oh. Maybe it's not the opposite of dogma. Maybe dogma is the opposite of dogma. Athiesm versus theism. Atheists aren't skeptics about theism, right? Their fully convinced that there is no God. Hmm.
Doubt and belief are certainly assailable.
