Out, out, brief candle

Poople shivered, despite not actually being cold. “That’s dumb. Something is the point. Why did you light all those candles? For no reason? Come on. That’s dumb.”
Noople stayed silent, moving slightly away from the gray figure.
“No reason is my reason.”
Poople frowned and began to shiver so hard that it was visible.
Noople stepped forward to stand next to her friend. “If no reason is your reason, then by your own logic, you have a reason.”
The figure waved the candle back and forth in front of its own hooded and indiscernible face. “By your logic, I have a reason. By my logic, I have no logic nor reason.”
Poople’s frown deepened, and tears began to well up in her eyes. “No reason,” she muttered.
Noople stepped closer, putting herself between Poople and the grey cloaked figure. “Logic stands alone and is neither yours nor mine.”
The figure stepped forward, now mere inches from Noople. “Show me, little one. Show me this logic that stands alone. I see nothing of this logic. I see only you, little one. You and your little shivering friend.”
Poople was shaking so hard now that she fell to her knees. Tears poured down her face, splashing to the shadowy ground like a waterfall.
“Your own words prove your reason! You can see us, you say. You can not see logic, yet you use it in your very descriptions, ordering the world with your words.”
The figure made a hissing noise like a fire being doused with water.
Noople shoved the figure with both hands. “Take your lies elsewhere, demon!”
The candle went out.
