Victory?

There are those who seem to want to not be understood.  They speak, they write, they communicate in such a way that their intention is obscured.  In fact, their intention is so obscured that one begins to wonder if the intention isn't simply to be obscure for the sake of obscurity.

Perhaps there is some reward in being obscure.  Perhaps there is some satisfaction in simply thwarting the natural human instinct to communicate.  Perhaps there is simply an urge in some to be contrary.

On the other hand, maybe it is I who can not translate.  Maybe it is the reader who is at fault.  The words are clear, the meaning is there but the listener is not present.  If this is the case, then I apologize to those authors who I perceive to be imperceptible.

Whenever I encounter this phenomenon, I find myself mysteriously stating out loud as I close the book in question: "you win".
