Donut and the spider made their way to the roof of the tower. From that height they could see, in the distance, past Stylus’s army, another army coming toward the castle. Who it was, they had no idea.
Donut found a trap door in the roof and swung it open. She saw Trevor and the Naga standing by the window.
“Tell the Naga to start throwing up bows and arrows,” the spider said.
“Throw up all the archery stuff,” Donut bellowed into the open trap door.
The Naga startled and looked up, her dark hair cracking like a whip. Then, recognizing Donut, she began tossing up bows and arrows.
Donut dutifully placed all the gear on the roof and then turned around to see, instead of a spider, a giant Quill with 100 pairs of arms. Donut squeaked and bit her lip. Giant Quill nodded and began scooping up bows and arrows.
“How many can you shoot at once?”
“Can’t… talk… much… and… do… arrow...thing.”
Giant Quill simultaneously loaded all 100 bows and fired. A cloud of arrows rained down on the lizardman army, causing them to flee from their newly built bridge.
“Trevor! Put down the bow and fetch more arrowsss for the giant,” the Naga said, still peering up through the trap door.
